Summer Style Surprise
Summer + leather. Not things one usually pairs together. Unless of course, you decide they’ve actually wanted to hang out, but have been kept apart by some style saboteur. Are they star-crossed lovers? Perhaps. Thankfully, the West Coast weather has helped them come together and now summer style will never be the same… Alright. I’m being a bit dramatic, but as much as I complain about San Francisco’s weather scene it does have some advantages. Which in my eyes, basically equates to wearing the “sticky stuff” in summer heh heh.
Leather, particularly leather skirts, seem to get saved for nights out or some other fancy occasion. But why not take it for a daytime spin? Mr. T & I headed to Portland earlier this month and a day of sightseeing was on our agenda. A leather skirt, real or faux, is the kind of item that can easily extend your travel wardrobe. Try it casually for day, paired with sneakers and a t-shirt. For nighttime add a blouse styled with edgy booties. Or maybe a slim sweatshirt and minimalist heels. It’s totally up to you.
I like the idea of pairing a brown or neutral bag with this look to keep it from becoming too dark. Though normally I wouldn’t have paired a bucket bag with this outfit, it was the only one I brought. And in the end I actually liked the combo. A few baubles, fun sunnies and my side pony kept the look relaxed as we took in Portland and all it has to offer. Next time if you want to keep them guessing, throw a little casual leather into the mix. It’s your new summer style surprise!
