Have you noticed that pastels are on trend for fall? Don’t worry; they’ll still be plenty of lush, rich jewel tones promoting a cuddly, cozy effect. However, you can feel free to break out your pastel colored items you may have normally relegated to springtime. I think it’s the Fashion industry’s way of keeping us from getting the SAD’s heh heh. So thoughtful…

So I figured why not combine the best of both with a little corduroy action in a light blue pastel color. Cute, right?! I like pastels but I don’t know that they’re always easy for me to pull off closer to my face, unless I’m going for a ghostly allure. Pants, skirts and accessories are a great compromise when wanting to wear a color or shade that present a challenge to your skin tone. Plus I love corduroy pants during the cooler months. In a slim fit they can transition from an everyday casual look, to a night out paired with pumps or even work appropriate for most.

For this look I went with a mix of girly glitter meets tomboy cool. Running around SF can require a cute pair of flats (Ummm, hello hills!) so why not make them sparkle a bit?! This style was a great opportunity to wear my Princess Flats from Ellie Shoes. They come in a couple of colors but I couldn’t resist them in gold. Gold glitter reminds me of being a kid again and adds a touch of whimsy that’s always fun. This color pairs well with the pastel cords keeping the look light and bright.

One of the oldler fashion rule’s was to go lighter on top and darker on bottom. But rules, especially style related ones, were meant to be broken! Bringing in some tomboy style I buttoned this adorable (check out these chicks) printed blouse all the way up, to the tippy top then added a mixed metal chain to emphasize the collar. A cargo jacket paired with retro shades keeps this casual tomboy chick look in check while my girly glitter flats do the walking. How would you style these Princess Flats? Let me know in the comments; I Prepped myself…

*** I’m linking up with Amber of Real Girl Glam for Real Girl Style. Cheek out all the great looks!
