Have you ever been out shopping with someone else in mind but grab a little something for yourself instead? Don’t fib, you know you have! It’s alright. I’m right there with ya. The tie I’m wearing here is one of my MANY examples. Technically, I bought this for Mr. T. but after arriving home I decided it would look better in my closet. Though I’ve had it awhile, I just clued him in on this little factoid. Like right now. As I type…. But I told him I’d share! That’s gotta count for something right?!

You may have caught me sporting a tie before (here & also here) but for this look I veered more monochromatic. Actually the shoes, not the tie were my original inspiration. They’re another of my scores from the recent Zara sale. Interested in a Zara shopping tip? Just pretend you said “Yes”. If you can, try on items in the store, but order any shoes or handbags online. Clothes in the store are generally fine but bags and shoes are often found damaged or stretched out. I got lucky with these. They’d been on my must have list for a while and the ladies scooped them up quickly. Did you get anything from the sale?

After determining my palette, I decided these shorts would fit in perfectly. Now I realize not everyone is not into long shorts but I love them! These have a relaxed, drapey feel that reminds me of an updated piece from the 1930’s. Think Katharine Hepburn; only I went a bit more literal by adding the tie. And did you notice? The pattern and color used in this clutch are similar to the one found in the tie, only bigger. Perfect, right?! Personally, I love menswear looks on women and think they’re quite sexy. I’m not saying I’M sexy but it certainly can be. What do you think? Would you wear an outfit like this? Or some element of it?

Though I’m the mind behind this Manners and Moxie menswear style I can’t take credit for the great photos! That must go to my friend, blogger and photographer Mallory. You’ll be seeing more of her work here in the future but you simply MUST check her out! She’s the mastermind behind MHM Photography and her fashion + lifestyle coverage will have you looking fetch! The best thing about personal style is it allows you to make a statement without saying a word. And this time? I’m going Platinum.
