It’s Friday already? How did that happen? Geezo, well  I guess time fly’s when you’re having fun…. or just busy as shit haha. My bday’s around the corner in early August. Anyone else a Leo baby? I’ve decided I want one of those time rewind/stopper things that Herrimonie had in the 3rd(?) Harry Potter movie. I’d tell you the official name but I don’t remember it and don’t have enough time to look it up 😉 Over the last few years I’ve noticed this time of year feels like it starts moving at warp speed for me. I think there are many reasons I feel that way…

-I’m getting older

-A birthday, like any celebration is something to look forward to but then it’s over and you return to “normal” life

-Growing up as a kid school started again shortly after my bday meaning the end of summer

-After summer comes Fall and a slowing down of life getting us ready to “hibernate”

-Shorter days are on the way with less daylight

-As adults we never get the same carefree amount of time to enjoy summer the way we did as kids & before we realize it’s over!

I could go on but I think you get the idea… Does anyone else feel this way around their birthday or towards the end of summer sometime in August?

Well these feelings are what lead me to today’s look. This is an outfit I wore while out exploring Philadelphia last week. I didn’t get nearly as much time in my old stomping ground as I wanted and just a sprinkling of the photos I planned to take. Summer weather was in full force (unlike SF) which I completely embraced. While I like a neutral palette it’s not something I wear very often but it seemed fitting on this occasion. There is something about this outfit that makes me feel like I can suspend time and then follow my heart on a journey or safari of some kind. In this case it was a safari around the city. These shorts are comfortable for traipsing about and I love the way this blouse flows when it catches the wind. Due to the heat, I wore sandals, kept my hair up and carried a bag that wasn’t too heavy allowing me just a few essentials. I added mostly gold and warm tone jewelry because it reminds me of warm weather and the sunlight of summer. As I write this I just remembered Mercury is retrograde right now until August 8th 2012. If you know anything about astrology Mercury retrograde can cause havoc, confusion and a general slow down to people’s lives. However, it IS a good time to revisit your past, tie up any loose ends and connect with old friends. If you’re interested in learning more you may want to check out Susan Miller’s website Astrology Zone. She’s my favorite astrologer and incredibly informative!

I’ve added a few photo’s I took in the city. Philadelphia has a great love for art and there’s a mural program that allows for murals all over city buildings. I didn’t get very many this time but I have a To Do list when I get back. I also plan on getting some street style snaps of that stylish city. What do you think of this look? Do you feel like it’s something you would wear exploring or when you’re feeling contemplative? I’ve found the best thing for me when I feel this way is to allow myself a little time to indulge these feelings and then get busy with other distractions. How do you snap out of a nostalgic mood? Any suggestions? For the rest of today I’ll be running some errands and then off to hang with some friends tonight. By this evening I think my friends will have me more than ready to move out of  Neutral Territory…

    2. I really love this outfit! And the necklace & sandals are particularly awesome.

My birthday is in early June, so it means the start of summer for me. But August does speed by and I was always sad to see summer go. Except it’s different in SF – because the best weather is yet to come in September & October!

Your point about SF weather is so true! Maybe living here will help me kick my end of summer moody blues haha
