I hope you’re well! It’s been a busy week and I’m happy to be off for the next few days. I mentioned in my last post that after a rough time last week a conversation with my mom had me feeling all warm and fuzzy again. I consider myself very lucky to have such a close relationship with my mom and the rest of my family. Growing up I always felt loved and supported by strong women in my family and I’m sure that’s one of the reasons I do my best to be a loyal friend and supporter of women as an adult. Do you have older women in your life you’re close with?

While my birthday is right around the corner and I’ll be thirty something 😉 my mom still sends me care packages. We all love receiving a package right?! Especially one that’s filled with all sorts of goodies as if you were away at summer camp. She sends me these every so often and they usually include a round up of toiletries and other treats occasionally including Rice Krispie treats when I can convince her. This time there wasn’t any room for the treats because she surprised me with some jewelry she found during our family reunion (sadly I wasn’t able to attend).  I thought I’d share the innards of this particular shipment since there are some shiny things inside along with some scarves needed year round in San Francisco. There are a few pieces that I wouldn’t have picked out for myself but that’s part of the excitement of receiving a gift! I like trying new things and jewelry almost always fits! She also sent me included a top and dress she found at Marshall’s. We shopped at T.J.Maxx when I was growing up and I’ve been in love with their amazing finds (and Marshall’s) ever since. Plus, since it’s a chain if she sends me something that doesn’t fit I can return it knowing I’ll always find something else I want! My mom already knows about the following but I’d like your opinion. Unfortunately, the top didn’t fit so it had to go back. The dress fits and I think it’s cute but I can’t decide if I want to keep it or return it and find something else I may like just a little more. What do you think? Keep or return? I have a few favorites out of the jewelry she sent me and I’ve already started wearing them. Do you have any pieces that you really like here? I can’t wait to work all these into my wardrobe but most importantly I’m thankful to my mom for her unconditional love. Whether in thought or deed she is always generous and kind to myself and others.

There’s one other thing I wanted to point out. Did you notice how neatly she packed everything? My mom has mad organizing and packing skills. She’s a great help when it comes to moving and setting up new digs and I’ve taken advantage of that on many occasions. Are you a good packer and do you like receiving a care package? What’s the best package you’ve received or given as a surprise before? You may have noticed she included some gummy bears which are a favorite of Mr. T’s and mine. I keep having to smack his hand when he gets too friendly with the them…”Keep your paws off those bears!”

I can’t believe how sweet your Mom is for sending you a goodie package! I LOVE getting mail! Sometimes I wonder if I buy things just so I can have the thrill and excitement of receiving a package in the mail! 🙂 Okay, so that’s not totally truthful, (I have a shopping addiction regardless), but ordering online is so much more fun than buying in the store! 🙂 I am super close with my Mom, and my entire family (Dad & brother), so I know how amazing it is to have a wonderful and supportive family. We are definitely lucky!

Thanks Jenny! Yes, she’s so thoughtful and I love being close with my family and all my cousins! It’s amazing how getting a package or some (non bill;) mail can make you feel! I certainly share your shopping habit. I’m so glad to hear you’re close with your family too. I can’t image not having that emotional support system.

Wow it’s like Xmas in July! How sweet of your mom Nic…and it’s great that you grew up around strong loving women…It’s important to have that. I didn’t really have many strong woman around me growing up, just my mom who is the strongest and most loving woman I know. Ok I’m getting sentimental (sorry!! lol)…Anyway, the PFC shouldn’t and isn’t limited to only petite ladies. When I host, it’s open to anyone and everyone! Haha. Well I’ll stop boring you to tears with my rambling. Have a good one hun and happy early b-day! 🙂 xo

    7. That’s so lovely! My mom was never much for sending care packages (though I won’t complain – she’s awesome in other ways!). But I’ve participated in exchanges with online pals that end up with cool mail like this!

Also, I LOVE gummi bears! I can’t keep them around the house because I’d eat them all. 🙂

    8. I love that your mom still sends you care packages, and nice ones at that! Lucky 🙂
