Layered

Living in San Francisco I’ve learned to love layers. It’s an easy way to stay warm and keep your look in the California “casual chic” zone. Ok. So that may not be an actual zone, but with fall settling in now’s the perfect time to get friendly with lovely layers!

Short shorts aren’t generally my thing, though I love a longer short or culotte. They have a retro feel I adore and it just so happens they’re totally on trend. You may have seen this recent post or even the last time I wore these shorts on the blog. It’s easy to wear longer shorts into fall paired with light sweaters, blouses and even a scarf if it suits. This sweater from Banana Republic happens to be my favorite at the moment; it drapes so well I find myself wearing it all the time!

Layering a shear blouse under a sweater adds interest and texture to any look. If you’re keeping to cool tones, try pairing accessories in browns or burgundies to give the outfit a little warmth. I kept my jewelry fairly modern here with cool pieces like this snake ring from Jami and colorful sunnies to add an element of fun! This layered look was the perfect outfit to wear to the Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream event in San Francisco. See more about it here.

Are you ready enter the casual chic zone? Give your pants and skirts a break! Stick with shorts just a little longer and layer up your look for fall!

XOXO
