Happy Hour

Work wear. Maybe not our outfit of choice but one that’s necessary for most of us. Do you find it difficult to balance your personal style with your employer’s dress code? Different work environments vary widely and my “day job” is no exception. Jeans are a no, but getting too dressed up isn’t encouraged either. That’s why SOME days I end up wearing an outfit like this!

Yes. I actually wore this to work. As a matter of fact I took these photos afterwards which accounts for the rather wrinkly state I’m in: a 10hr workday will do that to you. Full disclosure… No, I wasn’t ACTUALLY wearing sunglasses at the office but they’re a fun accessory for the drive, walk or ride home!

Bright pants or skirts are a great way to add creativity to your look. The shape can still be classic but colors or prints will get you out of the blah blah black and grey. Are you questioning my short-sleeved shirt over this long one? It’s an easy way to layer (I’m always cold at the office) and show keep things interesting without blinding your colleagues. That print or color you weren’t so sure about? It becomes much more manageable when you have a solid over it.

My bag is big, to tote all my crap around, and neutral, so it won’t compete with the rest of the look. Animal print shoes? Yes, they’re also a neutral. Animal print is always a winner in my book! This shape, along with the colors I’m wearing give off a retro, classic feel but the jewelry and moto style jacket (last seen here) are modern and right on trend. Do you find yourself in a work style rut? Let me know if I can help or if you’re game, use this as inspiration to start breaking out. The best part about this look? You’re already dressed for happy hour 😉

    1. Hunter green and leopard never gets old! Love the combo here with the layered tops!

Love the mix in pattern and color! I would have never thought to use a t-shirt to layer on top. So simple yet makes such a statement! I may have to try that! 🙂
