Many times when I start to get dressed I have ZERO idea of what I’ll actually end up wearing. Those moments can be nerve wracking if I’m pressed for time, but those are also moments I find myself combining pieces I might not otherwise consider pairing. Such was the case when this look came together.
I was on my way to a holiday party (more on that in an upcoming post), but I didn’t feel like wearing traditional party garb. Instead, I opted for an edgy look with casual, glam elements. A leather skirt and studded heels give plenty of edge so for balance I added softness with layers in lighter colors. A raw unstructured tee paired with a more architectural jacket make for an unexpectedly stylish pairing. Opposites attract and all that I suppose…
I love mixing up various styles! Pairing pieces you might not style together initially can help define your personal style, along with keeping your wardrobe fresh and interesting. This top and jacket combo could look just as cool with distressed boyfriend jeans and chunky statement heeled sandals or maybe a maxi skirt and brogues. So try something different next time you get dressed! If you plan too far ahead you might miss the happy, stylish accidents.
