This is the kind of outfit that makes me feel all grown up. Surprised? Doesn’t everyone have “that outfit”? Or at least a style that makes them feel that way. For me, anything that evokes a sense of the 1920’s – 1940’s is my catnip. Wide leg pants have my mind swimming to the 30’s and 40’s when pants started becoming fashionable for women, though still a bit risqué. Those generations seemed so confident and sophisticated, yet they tackled huge challenges with grace- from the right to vote and the Great Depression onto becoming the foundation of our work force during the war. You say, “All this from pants and pointy toed shoes?” I may wax poetic, and yes, there are other style elements here. The overall color palette is decidedly 70’s, except for my bag (hello 80’s!) and there’s a deco influence to my necklace, while my other jewelry is more modern. Sidenote – I’m obsessed with the TV show The Americans and this knit top totally reminds me of one Keri Russell’s character from the 80’s would wear, albeit bigger. But YES… It’s not a costume, but maybe just my love affair with style. And it just goes to show, a little imagination can take you anywhere.
