Spring and summer were meant for dresses. Not to say the rest of the year isn’t allowed to participate but there really IS a desire to keep style more streamlined and easy during warmer months. Maybe that harkens back to childhood when all we wanted was to be outside playing and couldn’t be bothered by “fussiness”… aka putting clothes on 😉 Do you remember those days too?
That ease of style was one of the reasons I fell in love with this Rory Beca dress. I originally bought it for my bachelorette trip to Miami and wore it out for dinner one night with the gals. Not having a va va voom figure I generally gravitate towards easier, more relaxed silhouettes. Nevertheless I still love pieces that make a statement and this dress has the color, print and subtle design details that always draw me in. Another reason dresses with minimal fabric/volume are great is because they can play “double agent”. Wear it as a top with jeans, trousers and skirts to get the most out of your wardrobe!
These photos were snapped in Charleston in the days following our wedding while we enjoyed the company of our family and friends. I styled it with heels, chandelier earrings and my favorite Mr. One-Nighter handbag for an evening out, but adding a more casual bag, jewelry and flats could easily transition this look for day. After searching high and low for the perfect red/orange lip color I’ve become addicted to this one so might as well prepare yourself; you’ll be seeing more of this one 😉
Will you be wearing more dresses this spring and summer? Or do you maintain a particular style M.O year round? My style will forever be driven by my mood but feeling blue just moved to the top of my list…
