Fashion Brunch – Max Mara

Would you turn down an offer to enjoy a yummy brunch while getting up close to some fabulous fashion? As I write that I realize what an asinine question I’ve posed. Of course MY answer would be something like “Only if I was bedridden with a communicable disease”. A simple “No” might suffice, but where’s the fun in that?! But I digress…

This fashion brunch is held downtown in the Four Seasons SF MKT Restaurant. It was the second time I’ve had the pleasure of attending this event and it seems (thankfully) to becoming a monthly event. It’s a chance for fashion focused folks, including myself and some other fellow bloggers, to get up close and personal with designers and their new collections. Last month it was Vince and this time it was the luxurious and sophisticated Max Mara

Talk about GORGEOUS! These clothes were scrumptious! All the pieces in the collection are ones you could buy today and 50 years from now they’ll still be stylish. Classics done so well they will look good with anything! They’re a couple handbags (like the Gia bag) that I can’t stop dreaming about and I have a SERIOUS thing for the winter white coat with the fur wrap directly above this paragraph. Oh, and the all white outfit with the fur scarf? Gasp! Are you going bananas yet?

This fun and flirty dress was a great option for an occasion such as this. I realize not everyone likes a drop waist dress but it’s a favorite of mine; this one in particular in a great mix of my esthetic. The shape is certainly a vintage throwback but the color blocking is modern and fresh. I decided front slit booties would tie in well with the urban location, but I’ve also worn cobalt blue suede heels for a fun pop of color.

Normally I take photos outside but the beautiful light streaming through the restaurant windows wouldn’t be denied. What’d your opinion on drop waist dresses? How would style this one? Throwing on a blazer or tights can make it a little more work appropriate for a more conservative environment. What do you think of this look and all the Max Mara loveliness? I’m just gonna sit back and enjoy the view…
