If you don’t want to run the risk of showing up to an event as a twinsie wearing vintage is a great option. That was one of the thoughts behind my wedding rehearsal dress choice. It also just so happens I LOVE vintage and ran across this dress at one of my favorite San Francisco vintage stores, Ver Unica. You may have seen this post when I mentioned the store previously.
Since Mr.T and I planned a vintage 20’s/30’s style wedding I couldn’t pass up this 1930’s inspired dress. Unfortunately many of the fashions from those early decades are so delicate, or extraordinarily expensive, they’re hard to wear or out of my price range. So when I ran across this 80’s reproduction I couldn’t pass it up. Since the dress it mostly white with the floral print I felt very “bridal”, though that wasn’t a must have for me. Mostly I wanted a unique piece that fit in with our theme. It just so happens I got lucky…
I tend to get “lucky” every time I shop at Ver Unica, always finding pieces I love. If you’re in the city you MUST stop by to check out their great mix of vintage and modern pieces. I wasn’t sure what the reaction from everyone would be from this fancy floral number but I was pleasantly surprised. I generally dress for myself, but every bride wants to feel pretty whether they say it or not.
My grandmother’s necklace accented the dress perfectly and though the earrings are a deco design, they’re new; pairing the dress with a modern metallic shoe keeps the look from costume territory. If you’ve ever been married or been in a wedding party you know things can get a little hectic. Luckily my sister was able to snap these photos quickly at our wedding location before we headed off to dinner. What a wonderful night to feeling fancy in floral!
