Color Coding

Let’s face it. There are just certain color combos that almost always call to mind particular associations. For Independence Day it’s red, white and blue or whenever I see black and yellow I imagine bumblebees. It’s just the way our minds codify things and basically, I’m fine with that.

But who says you can’t make new associations? Only think red and green signify Christmas? Pish posh! If I was wearing all solids it might be more difficult to pull off, but a little print mixing grounds this chic, menswear inspired look. This red saddle bag I bought in Turkey could have left observers with thoughts of caroling, but a pop of pink with my pumps has this look singing a different tune. So the moral of this post? Challenge the color codes! With a little help from shade, print, pattern and MAYbe an additional hue, your color codes will find new besties.

Looks great on you but don’t lay down in the grass…we’ll never see you…
