Ever find yourself trying to remember when or where you wore something for the first time? Overall, I have a pretty good grip on my closet story. I may not always remember the FIRST time, but generally I know when I acquired an item and what was going on in my life. For me, clothes and accessories are a snapshot, a moment from life with the power to transport, which can sometimes create a strange sense of deja vu.
All this to say, I bought this black cami about 10 years ago, maybe more. I don’t wear it a ton, usually under sweaters or the occasional blazer, but layering it over a little white tee is breathing new life into it for me. In the past I probably paired it with straight leg jeans, a colorful heel or bag and gold drop earrings. A basic night out look for the early 2000’s. But a lot happens to a person in 10ish years, so I thought it was time for a 2015 update. Much better I’d say, with layered elements of the various styles I love. It feels both old and new, which is probably a truer representation of my personal style and who I am as an individual. But at the end of the day I try not to regret what I wore, who I was, what I did – none of us should! We need to evolve, change and grow. We wouldn’t be who we are today without who we were yesterday.
Yes. All that from a cami… 😉
