I hope you’re all doing great! Today I want to talk to you about leather, pink leather or blush to be more exact. If you haven’t noticed yet leather is going to be big for Fall and Winter. It usually is but I think I’m seeing more of it than in previous seasons. I really love the shorter, pleated black leather skirts like this one here but I’m also a fan of the the more traditional pencil style right here. I know I complain about the San Francisco weather all the time but hopefully by the end of the month we’ll be seeing some warmer weather. That’s right, Fall for us is like summer so as much as I’m drooling over the Fall fashions I’m not ready to embrace them fully just yet. In September and October I just might be able to wear short sleeves without a parka.Whoo hoo!
For some of the above reasons I hadn’t planned on buying any leather skirts right now and certainly not a light colored one. I feel like lighter colored leather is much harder to wear. At least that’s what the little girl in me says (I may be changing my mind). However, a few weeks back I stopped into Forever21 to ask a question about something. Then it was over… I got sucked in. This has happened to you too right? So as I was running my hands over everything having a tactile affair with the clothes I came upon this little beauty. I was quite skeptical but since my other arm was already getting weighed down by a pile of things I figured one more thing wouldn’t hurt. I shop at Forever21 knowing full well the clothes are ____ (I’ll let you fill in the blank). I’m very particular with what I purchase there and I’ve really enjoyed what I’ve bought. I’ve been lucky all of the pieces I’ve bought have lasted and I pay particular attention to the construction and fit. Less expensive clothes can look great but it depends if they fit well. Having a good tailor is a must, unless of course you’ve got mad seamstress skills, which I don’t. Personally I’ve thought about taking some lessons. Have any of you taken a sewing class?
Well I put this on and was pleasently surprised. I thought for sure I would either loathe the color or the fit would be totally off. It’s still a little big so I might have it taken in a smidgen but another size wasn’t available. After the pile of clothes I took into the dressing room this is the only piece I bought. Not bad for $17.80 right?! I paired it with this gorgeous silk top from Banana Republic. The bright pink color is beautiful and since it’s a “leather” skirt the bow on the blouse keeps it more prim and proper for work. I added a these patent leather pump that I love and don’t wear enough. Stuart Weitzman makes beautiful, well crafted shoes. They’re totally worth the money and these are a versatile rich, mocha color. I also considered an animal print pump but mine are wearing out so a new pair will need to be found. The jewelry I kept delicate and to a minimum but I finally go to wear these beautiful earrings that my mom sent me! So what do you think of the skirt? Do you like leather or this blush color? Let me know how you’d style it differently too. While I haven’t crossed a black leather skirt off my “wants” list I’m currently Blushing over this one 😉
