Birthday Suit

Hi Kiddies, I hope your week has been a fabulous one! Mr. T and I had a really great dinner last week at Range for my birthday. Afterwards we headed over to Latin American Club for some drinks. If you read my birthday post it was just the start to a great celebratory weekend. Outside lands was fantastic, as usual. If you’ve never been I highly suggest it but it is rather exhausting. Next year I think we are going to buy a few VIP single day tickets instead. As amazing as it is by the time it wraps up you feel rather trampled literally and figuratively. Plus we’re not big fans of the necessary experience that turns the festival what I call “Bathroom Lands” or “Porta Potty City”. Trust… it’s not cute. However, I digress. Let me take you back to the main event of this post which was my Birthday Suit, of course. If you’re doing something special for your birthday (or otherwise) do you plan what you’re wearing far in advance? Or are you more of a grab it and go kinda girl? In my life it depends on my mood. When attending weddings or something more formal I find myself planning my attire further in advance. For a birthday, cocktail party or other such event I may have an idea but many times it comes down to the last few hours, sometimes even moments before. I thought about this combination earlier in the day but didn’t put it on until I was getting ready. I wasn’t quit sure if the sweater would be too long for the shorts but I think it worked out perfectly. I just ADORE these shorts from H&M!!! The color is great but also the fabric because it can transition so well between seasons depending on how you pair them.  P1000171 750x1000 Birthday Suitdip9 960x960 Birthday SuitP1000173 698x1000 Birthday Suit

The polka dot shoes I’m wearing may be my favorite part of this look! I love polka dots in general and these shoes are comfortable and versatile. I’d been hunting for these in my size for quite some time but they were sold out everywhere I looked. It just so happened I found them when I stopped into my local Nine West store and they were the only pair, in my size and on sale. That’s like a shopping trifecta, right?! When it came to jewelry I added this awesome necklace that found its way into my closet from one of my favorite local boutiques Ambiance San Francisco. You can see the last time I wore this necklace from Ambiance here. They have great clothes and accessories not to mention the very helpful staff! I love the bag that you see here but I’m still not sure it was the perfect choice for this look. I have other things I may have chosen but sometimes shopping your closet can prove challenging. What do you think about this choice?

P1000194 649x1000 Birthday Suit I piled on a few more baubles to pull everything together and threw my hair in a ponytail because it just felt right. I think there is a playful quality to this look and that was the mood I was in for my birthday celebration. What do you think of my choices? Is there something you would change or a piece you really like? I mentioned before that I was feeling a little down about getting older (does anyone like it?) but I have a lot of exciting things coming up. Hopefully my birthday wishes come true but what are some things on your wish list for the rest of the year? If my Birthday Suit is any indication of the year ahead for me will be chocked full of texture, color and unexpected details… all of which sound great to me 😉

So glad to hear you had a wonderful birthday! You definitely looked fabulous for it! I’m so jealous. . .I tried on those shorts but hesitated and put them back. I regretted it not too long after, went back to several H&M’s to find them and they were sold out everywhere! LOVE them paired with that fabulous open knit sweater!

This outfit is too cute!! It’s so unique. I love color combination! I always like to plan special event outfits in advance, otherwise there is no doubt I’ll be late because I’m trying to decide what to wear!

    3. This is all so adorable…. love the usual unexpected (oxy moron!?) from you! Love the aqua sweater and the purplish pink pop from the lip color. I really need to learn how to wear lipstick :). So glad to hear you had a wonderful b-day dinner.

    4. So pretty! Love your birthday suit Nic and hope you’re all recovered from that horrible fall!

    5. P.S. I been meaning to send you an email but realized I don’t see one on the blog. Email me via my blog so I can send you a future event info of mine. 🙂

I really like how you styled this outfit. The sweater and your lip color is a cool contrast to the other shaded! You look reallt cute! I have a VERY similar top from H&M that is the same color and i still havent wore it.

    7. […] have a wonderful sheen while the color is unexpected and versatile. You may remember seeing them here and also here. This outfit would be fine without the necklace but I love the extra punch it […]
