Hi Kiddies!
Are you having a fantastic Friday? Or are you checking your watch saying it’s eff this shit o’clock? Hah! Well either way the weekend is upon us and it’s time to finish up my Short Story. This look was for a more upscale occasion than Short Story Part 1 so check out that earlier post if you haven’t yet. For those of you who’ve been following along already I’ve been regaling you (at least that was the hope) with my recent trip back home to SC and Charleston. This will be the last stop through Charleston for now (I’ll wait while you grab some tissue) but I’m sure to have another travel blogventure for you soon enough (Philly? Are you paying attention?).
This was our first night out in the city. After a “fun” day of dentist office’s, hours of driving and exploring the city in sandals that made my feet bleed, I was ready for a delicious cocktail and a delectable meal. We started with an aperitif at our hotel and I had something called a Walking Stick (which I wish I’d had earlier that day). I’m a bourbon girl and this was right up my alley (Maker’s Mark, Canton Ginger and Sour)! Mr. T and I’d received a ridiculous number of restaurant recommendations from friends and family so it was tricky pinning down a choice for the night. We finally decided on The Peninsula Grill (http://www.peninsulagrill.com/) recommended by my stepbrother who used to own a restaurant himself. He said it was one of the best meals he’d ever had and it didn’t disappoint! We started with a lobster & crab cake duo then had a mixed greens salad with goat cheese & toasted pecan vinaigrette. Mr. T got the Bourbon Glazed Pork Chop as a main course and I got the Grilled Peach Glazed Shrimp which was served with hush puppies and brandied peach butter… enough said.
The Peninsula Grill is a more formal restaurant so I was a little hesitant about wearing this outfit at first. I’d been dying to break out these shorts which are fantastic because the material allows year round wear-ability. Even though the shorts aren’t a bright color themselves there is a certain vibrancy to them. The top I paired with it is also a darker print so I wanted a real pop of color and the necklace provided that. I kept the shoes and bag in neutral territory but there’s just enough color variation to keep it interesting. I’m so in love with the versatility and design of these shoes that they are the only heals I took on the trip! After dinner we headed out for additional libations. We ended up taking a liking to a bar called Squeeze and decided to stay for a spell. The bartender was great and allowed Mr. T and I to partake in some bourbon taste testing. That combined with the strawberry mojito I was drinking made for a tasty night indeed. Still upright we eventually made it back to the hotel a little worse for wear although we probably THOUGHT we looked our best heh heh. I included a few pictures of the hotel bar/lobby and bar. That tall chair reminds me of something out of Alice in Wonderland! Anyone else?
So what are your thoughts on this outfit. Do you like this “dressed up” Short Story? Being it’s Friday night would you wear this tonight or something similar? What about the color combination… Good, bad or ugly I wanna know. The funny pic for today is of course the last one. We were heading back to the room when Mr. T surprised me with this swift snapshot. I was kinda like whaaaatttt??? I was still feeling that way when I woke up the next morning…
